This article explores the elements of leadership and da'wah (Islamic proselytization) in Sulalatus Salatin, a seminal text in the corpus of classical Malay literature that played a crucial role in shaping political thought and Islamic civilization in the Malay world. This study adopts a qualitative approach through content analysis of the critical edition edited by Muhammad Haji Salleh (1997), supported by secondary references from both local and international scholarly sources. The findings reveal that Sulalatus Salatin portrays key leadership values grounded in Islamic principles such as justice, trustworthiness, wisdom, noble character, and spirituality exemplified by figures like Sultan Alauddin Riayat Shah and Bendahara Tun Perak. The da'wah elements are manifested through the Islamization of the royal court, the influence of religious scholars, diplomatic engagements, and the integration of Islamic administrative and linguistic structures. The study further identifies a strong interrelation between leadership and da'wah within the text, wherein both operate in tandem to construct the identity and civilization of the Malay-Muslim polity. Thus, Sulalatus Salatin serves not only as a historical chronicle but also as a model of leadership and Islamic da'wah that remains relevant for contemporary governance inspired by Islamic values.
