QURANIC PERSPECTIVES ON PRE-SERVICE TEACHER LEADERSHIP: A THEMATIC ANALYSIS OF AL-QURTUBI'S TAFSIR

This study develops a Quranic-based leadership model for pre-service teachers by conducting a thematic analysis of Tafsir al-Qurtubi. The research addresses the critical need to ground teacher leadership competencies in primary Islamic sources, particularly the Qur’an. Adopting a qualitative design, the study utilized thematic content analysis with the assistance of NVivo software to extract leadership values embedded in selected Quranic verses. Eight core values were identified: exemplary conduct, wisdom, trustworthiness, cooperation, integrity, justice, patience, and humility. These values were systematically mapped into a conceptual framework the Quranic-Based Teacher Leadership Model (MKSGBPQ) which integrates ethical, professional, and social dimensions of leadership. This model fills the theoretical gap in integrating Quranis epistemology with pre-services teacher leadership development frameworks. Findings suggest that Quranic leadership principles not only align with contemporary models such as Bass’s transformational leadership, but also provide a deeper moral and spiritual foundation. The study contributes to the theorization of Islamic educational leadership and proposes action research for future empirical validation of the model in teacher training contexts
