Al-Ghazālī is a renowned Islamic scholar who has produced many high-quality works that have gained recognition in the Nusantara, especially in Malaysia. One of his works is Minhāj al-‘Ābidīn, which is often used as teaching material in suraus and mosques. However, there has been criticism regarding his use of hadith in this work, as well as his methodology in selecting hadith, raising questions about how al-Ghazālī organized the hadith in his writings. This study offers a new perspective by not only focusing on hadith analysis but also examining the narrators of these hadiths to obtain transparent findings and produce a more objective study. The methodology used in this research is a qualitative approach through document analysis for data collection and content analysis as the method of data analysis. The findings of this study show that al-Ghazālī presented four hadiths in the chapter on repentance, all of which can be found in hadith collections. This study also analyzed 35 narrators involved in these hadiths. Therefore, this study suggests that further research be conducted on other chapters in Minhāj al-‘Ābidīn to obtain more comprehensive and robust findings.
