    Abstract

Postnatal care is a crucial traditional practice in Malay culture aimed at ensuring the health and well-being of mothers after childbirth. This study seeks to explore and consolidate information on postnatal care practices from the perspective of Malay culture. The primary objectives of this research are to identify and analyze key practices in postnatal care, understand the role of customs and beliefs in these practices, and assess the social and psychological impacts on mothers who engage in them. This study employs a qualitative methodology with document analysis as the main method. Sources analyzed include journal articles related to postnatal care practices in Malay culture. The data collected is analyzed thematically to identify key themes and patterns in postnatal care practices. Emphasis is placed on the role of customs, dietary practices, self-care, and social support in the recovery process. Findings from the study indicate that postnatal care practices involve several key elements, including dietary restrictions, the use of traditional herbs, and personal hygiene. These practices serve not only physical recovery but also emotional well-being for mothers. Customs and cultural beliefs play a significant role in providing moral and psychological support to mothers. The study also finds that these traditional practices have undergone changes and adaptations in the modern context but remain a significant element of Malay culture. The results of this study are expected to provide a deeper understanding of the value and importance of postnatal care within Malay society and contribute to the preservation of this valuable cultural practice.
